Real Time Blogging: House of Deputies Debates Windsor Report

Debate continues on the House of Deputies Substitute (which would comply with Windsor Report).

The Deputies are now voting to extend debate by fifteen mintues. Since it appears to be very close, they are voting electronically rather than by voice vote. They have all ready voted that they will hold a "vote by orders" for the substitute as well as the final vote on the resolution.

The feeling here in Columbus is somber and serious. I have tried to get eye contact with people in the halls, but it is difficult. It is clear that people understand that this is a serious matter before General Convention.

Werner has called for the chaplain.

Vote to Extend Debate:

821 Votes Cast

Yes: 372 45.3%
No 429 54.7%

Debate is not extended.

Murmur in the newsroom - it took a half an hour to vote down extending debate by fifteen mintues. I promised John L. that I would have no more fireballs.
