Here at the Cafe our new year begins at Lent. Instead of coming in with a bang, we go out with a bang. ;-)

BB, your Methodist roots are showing ... ;-)

Us Anglicans know the New Year begins at Advent, why we celebrate Christ our King Sunday, as a liturgical New Years Eve ...

Hey, we don't like being snobbish and certainly willing to welcome and reach out, we had two Methodist working for renewal in worship with us last night ... so we got an out reach program going ... ;-p

It's all about irony. Nothing like sending a year out with a bang and a few pancakes and starting off the new year with repentance, eh?

The Methodists follow the same year as we do, by the way. ;-) The Baptists would - but they lost their Prayer Books (used to have them back in the day, you know - especially in Virginia, it was the bishops that they tossed out). In fact, I was surprised to hear the Anglican Prayer Book Marriage Service verbatim at a recent Baptist wedding I attended. Heh heh heh.
