TIME Magazine: "The Anglicans Get Ready to Rumble"

An uneasy peace has brooded over the 2.3-million-member Episcopal Church of the U.S.A. and its global parent body, the 77-million-member Anglican Communion, for some four years now," reports TIME Magazine. " And a key voice vote Tuesday evening at the American bishops' conference in New Orleans has set up a decisive showdown that could well end the unity of the Communion."

When I first saw this headline, the song "Ballroom Blitz" started playing in my mind. Not sure why ...

"It is always possible that Williams will be able to forestall drastic action against the American church at least until all the Anglican Bishops gather at their once-a-decade Lambeth conference next July."

This is like life in the military. (I spent just over 30 years until retirement as an Army wife) You are always waiting for one more "list" before you know what you will do - a promotion list, an military school list, a change of station list. With TEC people are always waiting for one more conference, convocation, or meeting.

For the military family, it ends when you retire or get out. When does it end for Episcopalians?

That is a very good question, Anam Cara.

When does WHAT end? When does the Episcopal Church end? When do the lawsuits end? When does TEC withdrawl from the AC? Let me turn it around...when do the churches so vehemently against TEC stop trying to get TEC to "repent"? When do those against the TEC move on and let the followers of TEC continue down the path they have chosen? TEC is not the oppressor in this so-called "battle". Those that have left the TEC need to focus on their own beliefs, not trying to get the TEC to "repent". God really IS the only judge in this.

Strong ship....we'll go away when you stop persecuting us. Chaining the doors to the churches our forefathers built. Calling every Monday morning to chastise the rector for his sermon. We'll let you keep going down the "wide path" to destruction---all we ask is that you don't take us with you.

The "followers of TEC"? The followers of TEC?

What on earth does that mean? I thought we were followers of Jesus. Did I miss something while I was in the back unpacking the new shipment of butterbeer?
