Not all the bridges are burned

This morning I went to Good Shepherd Episcopal in Burke, VA for the installation of new members of the Order of the Daughters of the King. It was a lovely and Christ-centered traditional service filled with warm and welcoming and very kind people. It was an unexpected opportunity for members of our two congregations - though profoundly divided - to still find ways to reach across the divide and discover that not all our bridges are burned.

Members of the Good Shepherd and Truro Order of the Daughters of the King chapters gather following the installation of new members.

Mary, this is such an encouraging bit of news. It makes my day. May we hear of many more such instances of "walking apart close together."

Good Shepherd gave $66,000 to the Diocese of Virginia in 2008. How much of that money was used to pay for lawsuits against Christians? Don't kid yourself about how "close together" those people are.

Actually, chazaq, to be fair - the Diocese has taken out loans to pay for their lawsuits.

It's Lent, there's a lot of smashing of furniture over at the progressive blogs this weekend. The fact is, it was a blessing to be at Good Shepherd this morning. We can observe actions and respond accordingly, but only God can see the heart.

It is His kindness that leads us to repentance.

Mary,
Glad you had/have a better divide than we have experienced here in San Joaquin. As you know the scenario here is rather ......well......I have no good words for what the Remain Episcopals have done to us Anglican Daughters here.
