Bishop Sandy Millar preaches at Holy Trinity Brompton confirmation service in London

Check out this excellent sermon that Bishop Sandy Millar preached at a recent service of confirmation at Holy Trinity Brompton, London. Besides quoting U2's latest song, the Saints They Are Coming (lyrics below), he preaches on the Kingdom of Heaven. If you haven't heard Sandy, this Nov. 26 sermon is a great introduction. Imagine being presented for confirmation after hearing this sermon from a bishop of the Church. It does inspire hope.

I cried to my daddy on the telephone--How long now?
Until the clouds unroll and you come home"--the line went
But the shadows still remain since your descent--your descent

The saints are coming, the saints are coming
No matter how I try, I realise there's no reply
The saints are coming, the saints are coming

A drowning sorrow floods the deepest grief--How long now?
Until a weather change condemns belief--The stone says
This paternal guide once had his day--Once had his day

The saints are coming, the saints are coming
No matter how I try, I realise there's no reply
The saints are coming, the saints are coming

NOTE: The photo above was taken in Uganda on November 27, 2005, at Sandy Millar's consecration as an Anglican bishop. 7,000 people filled the grounds of an unfinished cathedral to celebrate. During a five hour worship service, Archbishop Henry Orombi consecrated Joel Obetia as Bishop of the Diocese of Madi / West Nile and Prebendary Sandy Millar as Bishop of the Church of Uganda to serve as Assistant Bishop for Mission in the Diocese of London.
