Tonight at the BabyBlueCafe: Bob Dylan


Yes, we know you're not surprised. But this is a fantastic interpretation by Dylan in 1995 of his classic song and the inspiration for the name of this site. In fact, it could be our favorite version yet. It certainly catches the mood that's been about the Butterbeer and Chai this week. Lyrics are here.

Very nice! Especially as background tunes while I read +Duncan's pastoral letter.

When I was in high school I did a major term paper on Dylan. Had to go to the UCI library for materials. As that was in the pre-computer days, I don't have a copy of the paper -- but it would be fun to see what I wrote 26+ years ago!

I've always preferred Dylan's versions of this song to any others, including Joanie's, which is beautiful but lacks the edge that Bobby always includes. It is a rather bitter song. I think this is a fine rendition with some nice interplay between the guitars. Dylan is often overlooked as a musician,but he can play well when he wants to.
