Love the new iPhone

Watched the entire presentation at Apple.com of Steve Jobs introduction of the new iPhone at the MacWorld expo (this is what happens when one is home with a tummy bug). It is astonishing. Way cool. Now we here at the cafe are just going to have to wait for Cingular to buy Sprint. Or Steve Jobs does ...

Wow - how did you find out about that so fast? Were you at Truro tonight? Yes, Truro was vandalized this evening, with graffiti of satanic symbols and "666" sprayed across the front doors of the church. In all my years at Truro (which goes back to 1979) I've never heard of anything like this happening. Early reports indicate that this happened just prior to the 7:00 p.m. service, but that's an early report.

I wasn't exactly sure if I should report it here on the blog. They'll be an announcement tomorrow morning at the church. For now I think I'll just leave this info here in this comment (under iPhone - how weird is that) but do appreciate your prayers. Was a prank or something worse? It's so awful to think of it across the front doors of the church.

Blessings to you,
bb

I'm really sorry to hear about this.

And shocked . . . but not surprised. In another of your posts on SF blog, BB, you gave a link to a sermon by David Anderson, and I'm listening to it. As I write, he's talking about the fact that we're in a spiritual war -- that we fight not, as Paul said, against flesh & blood, but against powers and principalities.

I assume that clergy and prayer warriors at Truro prayed to break off any curses, and re-sanctify the doors? On a practical matter, were they able to get the grafitti off?

trusting in Him,
kc

No comment on the Truro event except to offer prayers -- but, back on thread, wow, yes, BB, for once you and I agree on something: The new iPhone is AWESOME! (However I also agree with Zachary, that we're way behind the Far East, as has happened more than once just in my lifetime -- I got soft contact lenses in Tokyo before they were even in testing here in the US!). Can't wait for the iPhone release (and yeah, um why Cingular?)...

Prayers also to Truro from me. There's simply no excuse for profaning anyone's church, and I hope whoever did it is brought to justice (God's or man's, so long as it is swift and just).

Hi Mary,

I just had a long reply wiped out before posting... so let's see if I can reconstruct.

My oldest daughter had a surprise 18th birthday party for one of her close friends and a lot of the kids were from Truro. Some came after the Saturday service and gave us the news, then more was brought to us from some of the parents picking them up. I know you sometimes LEM at that service, so I signed on to see if you had any news.

From what I heard this morning, this was not the first episode of vandalism -- Falls Church was hit earlier this week and some of the other faithful, confessing churches in the area.

I don't think this is related to our separation from the ECUSA, except that when I read the comments left on the WaPo under some of the recent articles they've published, you can see a lot of the really hateful feelings and some of the people seem to have some, umm, sanity problems.

As I understand it, the doors were being painted last night as the service began. Also, Marshall indicated they had not caught the criminal(s) yet.

Finally, I agree with comment KC, this is more than a flesh and blood struggle...

That's a very good point. We fix our eyes on our circumstances when there is a lot more going on then just our own circumstances. I put up the song "Free" (under the photo of Truro - and I've just learned how to put MP3s on BabyBlue - yipeeee!) to remind myself that our freedom is bought by the blood of the Lamb, to use biblical imagery. We are set free from the powers and principalities of this world, though we walk the road of the cross, we live as ones who have been set free. Episodes like this from last night just remind me to always fix my eyes on Jesus, the One who sets us free.

The Lord knows who these vandals are and the motives of their hearts. I pray that they brought to justice, but even more, I pray that they may be set free to know the Love of Jesus and His wide-open arms of life.
