One of those moments ...

Okay, so yesterday was a long day, after a long week, after a long month. I'm out at the farm for the next two weeks and was riding the Metro (rather than the usual Choo Choo), dozing as we approached the last stop on the Orange Line. I opened my eyes and casually looked out the window at the busy traffic (it was so late, the traffic was actually moving) on I-66, including a triple decker purple bus. "Ah, the Knight Bus," I thought wearily.

Right.

I sat up suddenly and pointed at the window like a child thinking "THE KNIGHT BUS!" and almost started to exclaim to the few passengers still left in my car at the end of the line. My mouth opened to shout out, I was so excited, in those few seconds of pointing excitedly, forgetting for a moment how old I am or where I've been all day, that if I had gone forward one more moment I would have lept off me seat and started shouting "It's the Knight Bus! It's the Knight Bus!" But in those few half-seconds I came back to my senses, lowered my pointing arm, realized that no one had seen me and I just smiled as I watched it drive out of sight.

Maybe I was the only one who could see it anyway.

Babyblue: Out of curiosity, do you believe that Severus Snape is Dumbledore's man, or not? Also, do you believe Harry is a Horcrux? (I do... that scar is just too suspicious..)

I believe that Professor Snape is Dumbledore's man. I have been back and forth about Harry as a Horcrux, but I've come to think that if a piece of Voldemort's soul resides in Harry, it will have been forever altered by Harry's heart - it couldn't remain dormant, but would be changed or it wouldn't be able to exist, much as Voldemort could not abide possessing Harry in the battle in the Department of Mysteries in Order of the Phoenix - he had to flee. I am reminded of the magic Dumbledore did in his office (I think in Order of the Phoenix) where he discerned that something was divided (remember, the two snakes coiling but in essence divided). We've never - yet- learned what he was doing there, but it's possible it had to do with horcrux which may be why Dumbledore spent so much time teaching Harry about Voldemort - adn why in any event, Harry can't be killed (which would make the case, actually that Snape might not be Dumbledore's man if Harry is a horcrux - killing Harry means killing one of Voldemort's horcux, unless Voldemort knows how to get it out of him - assuming he knows). In this stream though - I would doubt that Harry is a horcux because Voldemort tried to kill him and that would be pretty darn dumb of him to do if Harry is Horcrux - do you see what I mean?

That scar is a mystery - there's no doubt about that. It does connect him to Voldemort - but it also operates as a protection for Harry for it reveals to him - like an implanted sneakoscope - that Voldemort is near. The scars reveal the sacrifice made on Harry's behalf - sort of like the scars of Someone Else we know. ;-)

There was a Knight Bus event at Chantilly Library on Wednesday. It was a touring thing sponsored by Scholastic. Funny you should see it.
