BE IT RESOLVED:
That this General Synod accept the conclusion of the Primate’s Theological Commission’s St. Michael Report that the blessing of same-sex unions is a matter of doctrine, but is not core doctrine in the sense of being credal, and that it should not be a communion-breaking issue.
The last phrase, "and that it should not be a communion-breaking issue." was added during debate.

I have to ask. Is being "doctrine but not core doctrine" anything like "pregnant but not having a baby"? And is it really up to that assembly whether or not the issue is communion-breaking?
Why the illogic and smoke and mirrors, rather than the forthrightness of saying "we are doing this because we want to" and getting on with it?
Quite frankly, who do they think they are fooling?

Whose communion are they talking about? The ACoC communion? They're split down the middle. The AC as a whole? Others--the vast majority of the AC--have decided differently. This is like TEC saying "Only TEC decides what it means to be in the AC."
