THUR AFTERNOON UPDATE: HERNDON, Va. (April 16, 2009) – The Convocation of Anglicans in North America responded to the news that the GAFCON Primates who met in London this week officially recognized the emerging province, the Anglican Church in North America, of which CANA is a founding member.
“We are pleased that the GAFCON Primates have recognized the emerging orthodox Anglican Province. This new province is a needed reality for orthodox Anglican Christians who wish to remain a part of the Anglican Communion but who cannot in good faith, follow the revisionist leadership of The Episcopal Church,” said CANA Missionary Bishop Martyn Minns. “We appreciate the encouragement for those of us connected with the Anglican Church in North America to continue to move forward as faithful Anglicans and to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ.”

Money quote of the day,
"The FCA Primates’ Council recognizes the Anglican Church in North America as genuinely Anglican and recommends that Anglican Provinces affirm full communion with the ACNA."
I wonder if the ABC will offer a comment?
Bingo. Let's watch that space.

Presumably AB Akinola is a member BB?
Heh. He was left off the e-mail I received after an inquiry. Oops. I think we can safely include him, though. After all, he is in the pictures. ;-)

I'm still waiting for a comment from the ABC.
This sums it up very well:

Well, of course that meeting was for the primates and the bishops, wasn't it. Obviously, we're read the Communique so somehow it all got reported, didn't it? And if our memory is not short we might remember this:

What the cartoon doesn't represent is the 100,000 people here in North America who are following the creation of a new province with great interest - but as we hear from the Presiding Bishop over and over, it's not the people who matter but our buildings. If she only knew, it's such a pity.
And for the 100,000 who want to remain Anglican, what can we say of the millions more who are just gone?
