Romanian-born Liviu Librescu, 76, an engineering science and mathematics professor at Virginia Tech, was killed in the Virginia Tech massacre April 16, 2007. According to Librescu's son, students sent e-mails explaining that the professor risked his life for his students by blocking the doorway of his classroom and allowing students to flee through windows. He was fatally shot. Librescu, a Holocaust survivor, had an international reputation for his work in aeronautical engineering. The photo (AP) was taken in Bucharest, Romania, in the year 2000, when he was awarded the Doctor Honoris Causa title by the Romanian Polytechnic University, from which he graduated in mechanics and aviation construction in 1953. Librescu was born in the southern Romanian city of Ploiesti, emigrated to Israel in 1978 and later moved to the United States, and received U.S. citizenship.

A very noble man indeed.
You know, some cafe patrons could probably offer some real insight into how an ordinary reasonable person just might view a post above this one, but I think she has just enough manners not get involved.
There are some interesting list of stories Mdlawlib might not read about VA Tech shooting and this hero on Blinky's site and then again in part 2.0 that I thought she might "enjoy" (not the correct word, but words fail here, maybe think interesting as she processes).
