Over a thousand people pack the church as The Falls Church (Anglican) bids farewell to their church home

They will be moving to a new space starting next Sunday. More info here.

1,000 people pack the church as The Falls Church Anglican prepares to leave.
It was a night full of joy, expectation, some tears and great hope as The Falls Church Anglican bid a fond farewell to their church home and looked forward to the great adventure ahead.  The night began with a time of rousing worship followed by words of encouragement from the pastors of all the church plants from The Falls Church.  A glorious evening of thanksgiving and praise filled with the expectancy and hope the comes from their faith in Christ for the next steps on their journey of ministry and mission.  May God bless them!

Here is a clip from tonight's service as the congregation sings Praise My Soul the King of Heaven:

I can't help but wonder if same-sex marriages pull that big of a crowd.

There was also an Evening Prayer service in the historic church which featured remembrances and music, which was wonderful.

The TFCA choir will be giving a concert this Friday at Columbia Baptist Church in Falls Church at 7:30 PM in preparation for their trip to England.

Please come by and show your support.

The Lord gives, the Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.

Interesting. Not my style of music, for sure. That cymbal/drum beating on every single beat of every verse would drive me up the wall. Is this the type of music the choir is taking to England? If so, yikes!!! Here's a palate cleanser from that:

The choir sang at the Evening Prayer service at 5:00 in the Historic Church. The video was of the final service in the new sanctuary. So, no, that's not what the choir is taking to England. Here's a sample of one of the choir's pieces:

Is the style of worship presented in the clip posted by BabyBlue a good example of a typical service at TFCA? It strikes me as not at all traditionally Anglican/Episcopalian.

Curious -- That was the contemporary style of service on the video. There are two main services, one traditional with an organ and choir, and a second contemporary with a praise band (e.g., with drums). There is also a third service, smaller and traditional. Notwithstanding the eviction, these services will continue, with the smaller traditional service at 8 a.m. at Columbia Baptist in Falls Church, and the 9 (traditional) and 11 a.m. (contemporary) services at Bishop O'Connell High School in Arlington (for the next two Sundays services will be at Kenmore Middle School in Arlington, after that they will move to Bishop O'Connell). Hope you can come to one of them.
