I believe every rector should be allowed a sabbatical every seven years. Just because you may enjoy what you are doing doesn't mean you aren't any less worn down. Being a rector is probably best compared to being a dairy farmer and a firefighter rolled into one job. Personal wellness for a rector yields trickle down benefits for the congregation by modeling Christ to others. Jesus allowed the spices to be poured over his head.

Sabbaticals are good for their wives too!
