Bishop Lee is a lovely man, but I think he didn't have a clue as to how advanced the disaffection for the church had become in the departing parishes. His general civility and courtesy led him to think it all could be smoothed out over time (like a few months - now it will only get smoothed out over a few centuries, I fear). Bishop Johnston strikes me as a more flinty type who, had he been Bishop in the Diocese of Virginia, would have been tougher on the firebrands on both sides of the schism in the 2000-2006 period, and would have recognized the need to strongly stand against both some of the extreme individual deviations from orthodoxy on the one side of the house, while at the same time being willing to intervene at earlier stages against those advocating schism and property seizures. It would have saved everyone a lot of grief and a lot of money.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23327221.post-28792324775763830002009-07-10T05:51:44.936-04:002009-07-10T05:51:44.936-04:00Bishop Shannon Johnston and Bishop Jones worth wa... Bishop Shannon Johnston and Bishop Jones worth watching.Knowitallnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23327221.post-86693216460052228352009-07-10T05:39:22.371-04:002009-07-10T05:39:22.371-04:00No probs.
